It is this kind of thinking that really irks me about the administration. God forbid that the reason some senators and representatives are fighting telecom immunity is that they think it was (and is) illegal for the federal government to have access to these communications without a warrant. If the administration told them it was legal, then they lied. Pure and simple.
BTW, this video is from this mornings presidential press conference.
Thou Shalt Not Steal? Very interesting....
Interesting article. I guess the darker “ring” in the above picture is dark matter (?).
The most colossal structures in the universe have been detected by astronomers who tuned into how the structures subtly bend galactic light.
The newfound filaments and sheets of dark matter form a gigantic features stretching across more than 270 million light-years of space--three times larger than any other known structure and 2,000 times the size of our own galaxy.
Ok, so last night was the final debate between Senators Clinton and Obama before the next round of primaries on March 4. I watched about 35 minutes of it. From what I say, particularly the first 16 minutes or so, it was an actual substantive discussion on trade and health care. Either of these people would make excellent presidents. However, in an effort to spice of the rather dull wonkish stuff, Slate.com has proposed a list of questions to ask the contenders. For example:
Gentlemen, here’s the scenario: As you are flying home from Moscow—having told the world you will never deal with terrorists—hijackers, posing as reporters, seize Air Force One. They vow to kill a hostage every half-hour, including your wife and daughter, until you release a murderous Russian general. I’ll start with Senator Obama. Do you negotiate with the hijackers in the hope of saving lives, or do you flee into the bowels of the craft, then pick them off, one by one, with makeshift shanks and your bare hands?
I would love the know the answer that one. LOL.
This article caught my attention on /. this morning.
I have no doubt that on balance, the world is a better place because of the NCMEC and what they’ve done, and God knows how I’d feel about them if they’d helped me find a lost child. But the good things they’ve done shouldn’t be viewed as political capital that they can withdraw against in order to be above criticism for spreading the “1 in 5” meme. The longer they go on implying to parents that there is a 1-in-5 chance their kid will be asked by an adult to meet in person for sex, the more I think it tarnishes their whole legacy.
I guess with the recent spat of Nanny State initiatives coming of our DC, this is just one more reason for me to despair. Goldwater is starting to look better and better. LOL.
Richard Cohen’s column in today’s WaPo is about how Senator Clinton should get out of the Democractic presidential race. However, it has a great line that I wanted to share:
Politics can be ugly, not to mention sad. Broken dreams are strewn across the American landscape. Fred Thompson resigned from “Law & Order.” Chris Dodd moved his family from Connecticut to Iowa just for the caucuses. Mitt Romney blew through a fortune. John Edwards campaigned through personal pain. The difference between a presidential candidate and a fool in love is only a matter of Secret Service protection.
Yeah, I know you can find a veritable plethora of naked or topless pics Ms. Keeley Hazell all over the Internet-tube-thingy, but I prefer the sultriness of her clothed. Call me nuts.
WaPo’s Fact Checker has run a piece on Senator Obama’s and Senator Clinton’s top policy changes i.e. “Flip Flops.” It makes for interesting reading. Here are Senator Obama’s five:

From our friends at the Onion.com:
Jaded by the sight of what it deemed “run-of-the-mill” orifices, the nation’s pornography-saturated populace released a statement Monday demanding a new bodily opening to leer at.
And this is why the general population hates politics in America today:
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama defended himself and his wife Sunday against suggestions that they are insufficiently patriotic.
Who gets to decide what is sufficiently patriotic in this country? Some uber-conservative talk show host? Superfluous lapel pins?
Republicans have been stringing together events in the past year to paint Obama as unpatriotic:
- A Time magazine photograph from an event in Iowa last summer showed Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson with their hands on their hearts during the singing of the national anthem. Obama’s hands were by his side.
- Months later, Obama told an Iowa television station that he no longer wore an American flag lapel pin because it had become, in some ways, “a substitute for, I think, true patriotism."
According to the Free Dictionary, Patriotism is defined as love of and devotion to one’s country. Remember, dissent is patriotic too.
